The biological efficiency and the influence of Pendimethalin and nepropamid on the yield and quality of flue cured tobacco were studied in field trials in 2001 - 2002. The biological efficiency of pendimethalin was from 1 to 4 according to EWRS, and that of napropamid was from 1 to 3 according to EWRS. The tobacco yield increase was the highest in the variant pendimethaline - 132 g/da (preparation Kobra 33 EK) - from 21,0 to 40,47 % compared to the standard control, followed by napropamid - 160 g/dka (preparation Naproguard 45 F) from 16,7 to 40,05 %. Under the conditions of the trial, pendimethaline and napropamid did not have a considerable influence on the tobacco quality.
