24. Possibilities for sustainable tourism development in rural areas

The concepts of sustainable development, sustainable tourism and rural areas and the possibilities for their reconciliation are examined in the paper. Based on a monographic study of a particular rural area some conclusions are drawn regarding the capabilities and limitations to sustainable tourism development in the rural areas of modern Bulgaria.
