3. Influence of anatomo-morfological characteristics of multifoliolate and trifoliolate alfalfa stems on oviposition preference of Hypera postica (Gyllenhal, 1813)

Oviposition preference of Hypera postica (Gyllenhal, 1813) in stems on two alfalfa cultivars – the multifoliolate „Mnogolistna 1“ and the trifoliolate „Europe“ was studied under field conditions. The results of the three year study showed that the alfalfa weevil preferred to oviposit in multifoliolate alfalfa stems than in trifoliolate ones. The anatomo—morphological study of the stems showed that multifoliolate alfalfa cultivar „Mnogolistna 1“ has bigger stem diameter and less mechanical tissue than trifoliolate which make it more attractive to H. postica for oviposition.
