6. The diversification of agricultural activities as a strategy for risk management in agriculture in Bulgaria

Resume

The study analyzes the diversification of agricultural activities as a specific type of risk management strategy. The main directions of diversification in agriculture are clarified. For the purposes of the study, diversification is perceived as the use of resources in different but complementary agricultural activities. A distinction is made between farms with diversified activities and specialized farms. An analysis of the main trends in the development of agricultural holdings with diversified activities has been performed. It is concluded that farms with diversified activities manage risk more effectively and are less vulnerable to the risk of changes in the direct support mechanism.
