Production of ornamental plants in Bulgaria is a relatively new subsector of plant рroduction. Favourable soil and climatic conditions in the country and raising the level of research of the only unit that directs the experimental and development work at the flowers – the Institute of Ornamental Plants outline favourable conditions for the development of the sector. However, at present the production area has decreased compared to the previous 10-year period, the production and consumption have shrunk, export is minimal.
