The development and strengthening of the strategic and integrated approach to planning and forecasting of the economic and social development of Bulgarian regions and municipalities continue to be on the agenda in the modern world. In terms of current objectives, principles, rules and procedures for implementing regional policy within the EU and in Bulgaria that approach is of crucial importance. In this context, the aim of the article is to examine and evaluate the basic beliefs and emphasis in the development of regional development policy in the context of the policy for sustainable integrated regional development.
