22. Guidelines for regional development in bulgarian agglomeration areas

Resume

This article attempts to socio-economically analyze the emerging agglome-rations in Bulgarian national space outlining their problems and development directions. The article focuses on the spatial concept for the development of the national space and defining the problems of conurbations such as connectivity, efficiency, sustainability and modernity.
An attempt has been made to give a new meaning to these areas as forces for regional economic development and at the same time as the place of investment activity concentration. Appropriate conclusions from their condition are made and new conceptual models for their development are outlined.
